My room smelt funny (possibly from the fridge) and the place wasn't entirely mosquito proof. also couldn't get WiFi from our cabin. I didn't sleep at all the night before climbing kahtahdin because I was really skeeved out by the smell and the damp feeling in the cabin. The place was tidy though and the guy was nice.
It was a cute, small cabin that was really nice to come home to after hiking Katahdin. The owner was great, super helpful and let us know where to go when our car was having issues. The only thing I disliked was that it was hard to ask for towels and soap, which were not provided, as I was getting in really late and leaving really early in the morning. But a great stay nonetheless! Would definitely return :)
This is a very quaint and rustic place -- not for those used to luxuries but rather for the outdoorsmen who just want a place to stay. Very simple rooms with beds and a bathroom. Microwave and fridge. No room service or daily cleaning (though you can certainly ask if you need anything). Owners are very nice. It's quaint and historic. The current owners have owned it 20 years but it is 70 years old (in 2017). It's like an old fashioned motor court. They have chairs and a common area where you can have campfires and there's a bakery on site. This place is well suited for the kinds of folks who will spend much of their time in the very rustic Baxter State Park and Katahdin Woods and Waters.
Cabin was over-booked and we too were re-located to a local motel the first night. The motel had no refrigerator, and we had perishables, anticipating the small refrigerator at the cabin. On our arrival the next day, the owner handed my husband cash to cover the cost of the motel. There are no white, down comforters - rather old, stained (dirty?) thin coverlets. No cookies or muffins. The "bakery" next to the cabins looks to have been a thing of the past. Had to ask for clean towels. Garbage piled up in bathroom and not removed daily. No pet policy, but there were dogs in one of the cabins every day we were there. I suppose I was silly to anticipate more for just $59 a night. Lesson learned.
Great spot for a weekend getaway. Close to Baxter State Park. A little small and not overly snazzy but was a good visit. Service friendly and had lots of amenities like BBQ to use, trampoline, bug tent, and fire pit. Would stay again.
