It is for all of these reasons that I will continue to support MRE for years to come, and I will never recommend a different company if anyone asks me about rafting in Maine. I've organized a rafting trip with Maine Rafting Expeditions every year almost for almost the entire time that they have been operating and I have never had anything bad to say about them. The owner, Arthur, absolutely deserves the success that it appears he is getting and I truly believe that his company is the best in Maine to raft with.
This company is so amazing. It's a smaller company so they are so in touch with what each group wants. Our guide Cory was awesome and definitely knew the trip we wanted which was crazy. None of us knew what we were doing and he made it so easy and fun. We were able to stop along the river and do some cool rock slides along the way because they are a smaller company and don't have to wait for 10 other boats to keep going.. I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone.. can't wait to go again! :)

All of the guides are veterans on the river and know what they're doing. They tailor your experience to make sure that each person has the best possible trip. If there is something that you see and you want to avoid doing, they will make sure to avoid it if possible. The guides also make sure that you are as safe as possible while on the river, giving a safety talk at length on the way from the outfitter and explaining how to deal with all of the common scenarios that you will encounter on the river.
My husband and I rafted with Maine Rafting Expeditions for our 10 year wedding anniversary trip. It was my second time and my husbands first time rafting. We had such a wonderful experience. Our guide (Derrick) was amazing. He tried to cater the rafting experience with what we were willing to do. We were always given the option of going down the river the easier way or the more challenging way. When he presented us with the options, he always made sure to check with every person in the boat to ensure that everyone felt safe and was comfortable throughout the whole trip. I would highly recommend Maine Rafting Expeditions to anyone looking to raft down the Penobscot.

Along with the actual trip on the river you get a great riverside lunch that never disappoints. Each person has their choice of steak, chicken, or vegetarian and there is a large pan of rice, potato salad, rolls, and dessert that is being prepared for you when you get to the lunch site. After a morning of rafting the food is delicious, and there's always more than enough for seconds or even thirds if you wish.
