The press is quick to address bad performance by police even though most of the time it is proper and often outstanding. My wife and I had a resent visit to Millenocket which turned into a nightmare. We reserved a spot at a local campground back in May with a $70 deposit, when we arrived August 11th we were assigned a site that was too small for our camper. The owners were very rude and said they were full and could not change our site. Later the owners asked if we had stolen some lumber which they said another camper had reported. We told the owner we were very unhappy with their campground and would be making very bad reviews online about it. The owner then said we had to leave in 10 minutes or he would call police, and he would not refund our 4 days that we had paid. Then officer David Cram arrived, he was polite and professional and he was very patient about hearing both sides of the issue. We had agreed to leave but wanted our money back which the owners did not want to do. He eventually explains to them that they could not have it both ways. Finally he convinced them to refund us and we left. The officer took the time to help us find alternative locations and give us directions. The next day the weather was bad and we unable to climb Mt Kitadin which we planned for 10 years of hiking the AT. Our memory of Millennocket is not the greatest but Officer Cram showed what a good peace officer could do. We will hold a positive memory of your city because of him
